We now generate some statistics figures about number of downloads/views on the fly..

Tell us what you think about this feature.

Hi, clicking again and again increments the number of view, not identifying multiple clicks from the same user. This could be a good thing to artificially make a project popular, but will not reflect the exact statistics.

So what is your proposed solution?

Identifying 'clickers' to count them only once

Well, it is not that easy. I mean we could definitely only count 'hits' if cookies are enabled and then check if that user clicked already. Or alternatively record IP addresses and check if we received a vote from that adress already (not sure if this is legal though).

However, then we don't count visitors that have cookies disabled and still all these countermeasures can be circumvented.
