Greetings all,
I just wanted to mention I wrote a short piece that touches on some of the same issues that motivate this site (of which I'm a great fan and very contented user). It's called Empiricism is Not a Matter of Faith, and appears in the September 2008 issue of Computational Linguistics.
Here's a link to the MIT Press journal site : http://www.mitpressjournals.org/doi/abs/10.1162/coli.2008.34.3.465?cookieSet=1&journalCode=coli
And then a pre-print version... http://www.d.umn.edu/~tpederse/Pubs/pedersen-last-word-2008.pdf
I don't imagine it says anything that isn't already well known to folks involved in MLOSS, but I thought I'd point it out just to demonstrate that related discussions are happening in other communities...and it also explains what led to the software that we've placed here on MLOSS, so thought it could be interesting for that reason.
Cordially, Ted

The latest issue of Computing in Science and Engineering has several articles on reproducible research. I found the one about the legal framework quite interesting, because it proposed a "Reproducible Research Standard".
