We have been thinking of organising a workshop on mloss at NIPS 2008.
Since 2006, we've made some progress with open source software in machine learning, mostly through more community awareness. It is not clear whether there are actually more open source people in machine learning today than two years ago.
Some possible themes for this year's workshop (my personal thoughts)
- Tools for computational science, e.g. matplotlib, bioconductor
- Reproducible research
- Open Data and data repositories
What do you think?

Do we actually have the proposed schedule for 2007 backed up somewhere? We could use this as a basis for discussion...

Hi,
I'm looking for a C++ software that allows an automatic "Leave-One-Out Cross Validation" of the learnt model. This should work fully automatically that is I provide an input set used during the training phase and the machine learning software excludes the learnt data for that set, generates a new regression model which I then can use for validation.
Does any of the programs mentioned in your software section support this?
Regards, Christian

You should create a new thread when asking such questions. Hijacking this one obviously didn't work out :-)
